Sustainability
Radio hosting that is kinder to the planet.
Your station never switches off, so where it gets its power matters. Here is how Citrus3 hosts you on green servers, in green data centres, without compromising on reliability.

Behind the scenes
What is happening behind the scenes at Citrus3.
Five things that make our hosting both greener and more dependable.
Smart cooling
Servers produce heat, and cooling them is one of the biggest uses of energy in any data centre. Ours is designed to keep servers cool and efficient. All of our locations are in the cooler climates of Canada and Finland, so where possible we use fresh outside air instead of relying only on energy-hungry cooling equipment.
Renewable energy
Our servers run in facilities powered by renewable energy. Wind power keeps the lights on and, when it is needed, water power steps in so the supply never stops.
High-capacity connectivity
Our infrastructure is connected through high-speed fibre networks, built for reliability and performance. Good connections mean your audio reaches listeners cleanly, without the buffering that makes people switch off.
Backup power
Redundant power systems and generators keep everything running when the unexpected happens. We are open about the fact that these generators run on diesel. They are a safety net for the unexpected, while everyday power comes from renewable sources.
Built for reliability
Our servers are backed by professional data centre infrastructure designed to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Radio never sleeps, and neither does the infrastructure behind it.
Your impact
Choosing Citrus3 is a healthier choice for the planet.
Every station that goes on air runs servers around the clock, all year. When you host with Citrus3, your station is powered by renewable energy in facilities designed to cool themselves efficiently. You do not have to pay extra for it or do anything differently. It is simply how we build and run our service.
It is a small decision with a real effect: a busy station is a lot of hours of electricity, and you are choosing where that power comes from. You can also share it with your listeners. Tell them your station is hosted on green servers.
