Many stations place regular shows or genres into a schedule with start and end times. A scheduled show can also repeat daily, weekly or monthly.
Before you start. Your media must already be uploaded as MP3 files. If it is not, go to Media, then Add Media, then Select Media, and upload your MP3 files first.
Steps
- Click Playlists.
- Click + Create Playlist, enter a name for the scheduled playlist and click Save.
- Click Tracks next to the new playlist.
- Click the + icon next to each available file you want to schedule, then click Save.
- Click Schedule, then click Add Event.
- From the Playlist dropdown, select the playlist you created.
- In the Title field, enter a name for the scheduled event.
- Click the Schedule tab and choose when the playlist should queue. You can also set whether and when it repeats. Then click Save.
Working on the calendar
- Create an event. Drag across the hours of a day on the calendar.
- Move an event. Click, hold and drag it to another day or time.
- Right-click an event. You can duplicate it to reuse the same setup for another show, view the playlist tracks assigned to it, or delete it.
Event settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Type | What fills the slot: a playlist, a live DJ slot where a particular DJ may connect, or, where your service supports it, a relay of another stream or feed. |
| Shuffle | Plays the playlist’s tracks in random order. If looping is off, the playlist stops after one pass. |
| Loop | Off: the event ends when the playlist finishes and general rotation resumes. On: the playlist starts again from the beginning. A looped playlist of long tracks can run past the end of the slot, so plan for it. |
| Interrupt | Stops what is playing and starts this event at the exact scheduled time. It only takes effect when the previous event’s interrupt is off. |
Repeating a show
On the Schedule tab choose how the event repeats:
- Daily or weekly. Repeats on the days you choose until an end date. Good for a daily show.
- Day of the month. Repeats on a fixed date each month, such as the 1st.
- Day of the week. Repeats on a particular weekday each month, such as the first Sunday.
Changing one show without changing the series
Editing works like a calendar app. You can change a single occurrence of a repeating show, such as moving one day’s 9am show to 10am, without touching the rest. That day then separates from the series.
Live DJ slots
An event can reserve a time for a live presenter instead of playing a playlist. Create the DJ accounts first with the DJ access guide, then give each one their slots, so a presenter connects at the right time and the AutoDJ fills the gaps.
Make your schedule reliable
- Keep general rotation running. When no event is scheduled, general rotation fills the gaps, so there is no silence.
- Check repeat protection. Each event has its own repeat protection, and it also takes into account what played earlier on the station. If a scheduled track does not play, check it first.
- Use interrupt sparingly. It cuts off the current track.
- Check your time zone. Confirm the times shown match your station’s time zone, so events start when you expect.
Troubleshooting
- A scheduled show does not start. Check that the playlist has tracks, the AutoDJ is running and repeat protection is not blocking the tracks.
- A show runs over its slot. Loop is on, or the tracks are longer than the slot. Turn loop off or shorten the playlist.
- A show starts late. The previous event has interrupt switched on, or its track was still playing. Enable interrupt on the new event, and check the previous one.
- Schedule the next few weeks in one go by duplicating events.
Once saved, the scheduled playlist is active and will queue at the time you set.
