Make your radio public in SHOUTcast

This guide explains how to make your stream public on SHOUTcast. Public listing means registering with SHOUTcast, a third party, so that your stream appears in their directory.

Steps

  1. In your control panel, go to Settings, then Server overrides. Set the stream to public and select always.
  2. Restart your server so the change takes effect.
  3. Create an auth hash, which registers you with shoutcast.com. In the Citrus3 control panel, click the admin link on the left-hand side. A new page appears with your server settings.
  4. Click Server Login in the top-right corner. Enter admin as the username, and use the same password you use for the Citrus3 control panel.
  5. After logging in, click Create Authhash.
  6. You are taken to the SHOUTcast/Radionomy website. Register your existing stream for the directory by filling in your station details.
Good to know
  • Making your stream public allows shoutcast.com to play occasional adverts over your stream. They have full control over this.
  • You must restart your server after changing the public setting.
  • You must register your stream with SHOUTcast for it to be listed in the directory.

Once registered, your station is listed in the SHOUTcast directory.
